### Multi-Factor Authentication
MFA is vital to protecting your company’s resources, and a provider might deny your claims if you don’t have it. This is especially true if your business reported they did, in fact, have protections in place, when in reality, you don’t. MFA might feel like an additional hurdle for your employees, but it’s a vital one in regards to your cyber coverage.
### Isolated Backups
A backup is only useful if it’s left untouched by whatever incident is causing the data loss event in the first place. This is why we always recommend storing at least one copy of your data off-site where it can be isolated from the rest of your infrastructure. Ideally, this backup is stored in the cloud. Failing to have this safeguard in place could be looked at as negligence in the eyes of your insurance provider, and it could cost you your payout.
### Endpoint Detection and Response
Insurers don’t want you to use any old antivirus tool; they want a solution in place that tells them you’re monitoring for potential threats, not just doing your best to keep them out. A provider will want you to have active monitoring in place before they will provide coverage.
